Best Western Plus Hiawatha Hotel

IFirst I must say we are Diamond members with Best Western and have stayed at many Best Western properties. This one we found disappointing especially since this is supposed to be a Best Western Plus. Our first issue was when we walked in the front doors, we were't greeted and thanked for being BW Diamond members. We alo didn't recieve any bottles of water which we're supposed to as Diamond members. The girl at the desk acted like it was an imposition to check us in and spoke so softly I had to ask her to repeat everything she said. When we got to our room immediately I saw the TV screeen was copletely smeared with some type of cleaner residue. It was bad enough you couldn't watch it. I had to get a towel damp and clean it off. My wife then found the counter in front of the microwave and coffee maker all sticky with somewthing so we had to clean that too. The room was poorly arranged, the bed was positioned barely 2 feet from the AC/heat unit. So the person on that side of the bed had a stiff breeze of cold air blowing directly on them all night. That said the bed itself was pretty comfortable. Also the chair in our room wasn't very clean. The breakfast was on par with other Best Westerns with the usual waffles, scrambled egg product, various cerals, etc. Overall our stay was just adequate, though not up to the standards we expect from a Best Western Plus. If in the area again I would choose a hotel somewhere else in eastern Kansas or western Missouri.

Room was average, the AC ran great, Halls and stairwells were always dirty. The elevator was broken the entire stay, 5-days, Told that it's been broke for a long time with no end in site for getting it repaired. Plan to lug all of your stuff upstairs without assistance.

The hotel was dirty, customer service was terrible, the elevator was broken, the breakfast was terrible and cold. When asking for a first floor room , I was denied and said they were all occupied by the robot , rude desk clerk. Had to carry my luggage up to 3rd floor. Halls and stairwells were filthy, not tub was so dirty I would worry about putting my foot in. The staff was not knowledgeable, helpful nor friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the rest of the hotel was terrible. I have stayed there several times prior to this stay and never had a complaint. Not sure what happened , whether new management or other issues but was definitely dissatisfied and I rarely leave negative reviews.

I’ve been traveling cross country month of July on my Road glide, found this BW at the end of one day, very comfortable, to much to food in the area but did get a good lead from front desk, turned out great, good food & cold beverages, just what I needed, so if you’re in town try the country cabin restaurant, couple miles from town.

Clean and comfy. Pretty good breakfast included. Well lighted parking lot. Beds very comfortable- I slept good. Swimming pool and hot tub open till 10 that kids enjoyed. The only thing that I would recommend is that they supply a bar of soap. There was the usual small bottles of shampoo and lotion, but no bar soap. If that was the only issue, then this was a great place and I would stay here again.

Friendly staff and clean rooms. Great fitness center. I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s always hassle free. Great stay.

This hotel is right off Highway 36 in Hiawatha. The staff is great. The rooms are wonderful the beds very comfortable and the breakfast is superb. You couldn’t ask for a better place to stay give it a try you will not be disappointed

I have been a very good customer of this hotel staying maybe eighty nights during the past ten months. I've put up with broken chairs at the desks in rooms and cushions on the couch so beat up that the fold-out bed mechanism in the sofa couldn't be covered up. But the last couple of visits have been particularly bad. Towels have been placed in the bathroom for use by customers that had big black stains on them. Nothing like reaching for a towel after a shower and seeing a big black mark on it as it nears your face! Had they been laundered? I can't say. But clearly stained towels need to be thrown away and not reused. Then last night I get put into a room without a working shower! Didn't notice it until this morning when I started getting ready for a board meeting. The shower handle was plainly just hanging there unconnected to the valve in the wall! Didn't the attendant that made up the room notice this? The shower curtain had been nicely tucked away around a grab bar but she didn't see the broken control handle? How was the shower cleaned when water couldn't be turned on?? I'm sorry, this hotel isn't giving rooms away. Selling accommodations at well over $100/night should be revenue enough to guarantee a clean room with working plumbing. It would have been very convenient for me to continue staying here the next couple of years. However, I've had it with such lousy conditions and will find someplace else even if it means driving a further distance from the area. Nuts to the Best Western of Hiawatha!
